Block a user or a country
What performers can block (people and whole countries), what happens to whoever is blocked, and which tools viewers have.
In this article
On Sweetly, whoever publishes decides who can see her. Performers can block individual people and whole countries, and remove someone from the chat of a live show. Viewers have different tools, designed to silence a conversation and bring in the staff.
For performers: the Restrictions and blocks page
All blocks are managed from Restrictions and blocks, in your account menu. The page has two tabs.
Blocking a country
In the Restrictions tab press New block, choose the Country and confirm with Block. From then on, people whose account is registered in that country no longer see your profile, your content or your live shows, and can’t message you.
It’s the right tool if you don’t want to be found by people who live near you: you can restrict as many countries as you like, and remove the block when you change your mind.
Blocking a person
In the Blocked users tab press New block, type the Username without the @ — we suggest names as you type — and confirm. You can add a Reason: it’s a reminder only you can see.
The blocked person:
- no longer sees your profile or your content, not even what they had already bought;
- can no longer message you or join your live shows;
- isn’t notified of the block.
From the list you can press Unblock at any time: everything goes back to how it was.
Blocking from the live chat
During a live show, tap the name of whoever is writing in chat:
- Mute for a minute silences them for sixty seconds. On the third mute they’re blocked from the chat automatically.
- Block from chat stops them writing in your chat. It only applies to that chat: the account keeps using the site.
When you block someone from the chat, staff receive a report with the latest messages, and can lift the block explaining why. To keep someone away completely, also block them from the Restrictions and blocks page. All the live show controls are in Going live.
For viewers
Viewers can’t block performers, but they’re still in control of their own conversations.
- Mute a conversation in Messages: you stop getting notifications from that chat.
- Archive it: it leaves your list of active conversations, and you’ll find it under Archived.
- Stop following someone from the Following page: their posts leave your Following feed and you stop getting their alerts.
- Report a message, a post or a profile, as explained in Report content or a user.
If someone harasses you, always report the message: the moderation team can suspend an account’s chat or the whole account.
If you’ve been blocked
If a performer has blocked you, her profile and content no longer appear to you, and if you try to message her you’ll read You can't message this performer. If the block only concerns the chat of a live show, you’ll read You can't write in this chat anymore: in that case staff have received a report and can review the decision.
A block is the performer’s choice and must be respected: don’t create other accounts to get around it, it’s a rule violation.
Frequently asked questions
Can a performer block a whole country?
Yes, from the Restrictions tab of the Restrictions and blocks page. People whose account is registered in that country no longer see her profile, content and live shows.
Does a blocked person get notified?
No. The performer’s profile simply stops appearing to them, and they can no longer message her.
If I’m blocked, do I lose the content I had unlocked?
Yes. A performer’s block also applies to content already bought by the blocked person.
As a user, can I block a performer?
There’s no block for viewers, but you can mute or archive the conversation, stop following her and report any inappropriate behaviour to staff.
