How Profile Discovery Works on Sweetly: Optimizing Your Profile to Get Found

On Sweetly people come across you in at least seven different places, and each one rewards something different. A map of how discovery works, and what you can do to show up more often.

Sweetly

When we designed Sweetly, one of the questions we started from was simple: how does a newly arrived performer get found if she doesn’t already have thousands of followers to bring along? On closed subscription platforms the answer is almost always «from outside»: social media, links, promotion. We wanted part of the new audience to be able to arrive from inside.

The result is that on Sweetly people meet you in many different places, and each works with its own logic. In this article we go through them one by one, with what you can do to show up more often. There’s no secret trick: there’s a well-kept profile, a regular presence and a few choices made with care.

A premise: your profile must be public

Everything that follows applies if your profile is public. On Sweetly you can also choose a private profile, which doesn’t appear in the site’s grids and reaches only people who know your username. It’s a useful option for those who want maximum discretion, but it’s the opposite of discovery: if you want to be found, keep your profile public and use country blocking to exclude those who shouldn’t see you.

New faces: the advantage of your first weeks

The first space you appear in is also the most valuable, and it doesn’t last long. For the first weeks after approval, your profile carries the New badge and appears in the New faces section of Discover and among new performers on the live page. It’s where people looking for fresh faces look first, and it’s a real audience: people who love discovering.

The most important advice in this whole article is this: arrive on approval day with your profile ready. Photos, cover, bio, tags, a few posts visible to everyone and your first shows already scheduled. The New badge doesn’t come back, and wasting it on an empty profile is a missed chance. You can prepare almost everything while your application is under review.

Trending: the reward for growth

The Trending section in Discover shows profiles that are growing right now: more interactions, more new followers in recent weeks. It doesn’t reward being big; it rewards momentum. That’s why even a performer with a small audience can appear there if a lot happens on her profile in a short time.

How do you get in? Through the actions that grow interactions: posting regularly, replying to comments, asking people to follow you during shows, scheduling shows that bring in new people. One intense, well-prepared week can push you into Trending more than a month of distracted presence.

Live shows: going on air gets you discovered

While you’re live you appear on the live page, and the profiles with the most viewers and interactions at that moment rise among the most popular. It’s a self-reinforcing mechanism: the more people stay in your room, the more visible you are, the more people arrive.

Two things help a lot. The first is keeping the people who come in: greeting them by name, answering in chat, creating an atmosphere where people stay. The second is regularity: the live audience runs on habits, and people who know when to find you arrive as soon as you switch on the camera, giving the room the initial push that makes it climb.

Upcoming shows: getting found before you go live

A scheduled show is visible before it even starts. It appears in the upcoming shows section with a countdown, on your profile and, when it’s about to begin, in the featured strip at the top of the live page. Your followers get a notification shortly before, and anyone can set a reminder for that show even without following you.

It’s one of the most underrated tools. A show announced with a catchy title works for you for days, collecting reminders from people who may not have known you. How to schedule shows, including recurring ones, is explained in Schedule live shows and get discovered.

Categories and tags: words that bring people

The categories on the live page are built from tags. When you go live, your show’s tags place you in the matching categories; when you schedule a show, its tags appear among the categories even before you start.

Then there are profile and post tags, which feed search and suggestions. The rule is the same for all: precise, not generic. A tag like «tattoos», «cosplay», «chatting» or «Spanish» means something to searchers and puts you in front of the right audience. A tag like «pretty» or «sexy» is used by everyone and sets you apart from no one. Sweetly suggests the most-used tags, which are also the most searched: pick the ones that truly describe you.

A good exercise is keeping tags consistent across profile, posts and shows. Someone who finds you in a category and lands on your profile should find the same words and know immediately they’re in the right place.

Search: name, tags and languages

The site search finds profiles by name, profile tags, post tags and spoken languages. Two details matter more than they seem.

The first is languages. Listing the ones you really speak gets you found by people looking for a performer to chat with in their own language, and your cards show «Speaks…». For performers who speak more than one language, it’s a huge advantage.

The second is the gender identity set in your profile: it decides which audience you appear in — women, trans, men or couples — in the filters many people use to browse.

The feed: posts that travel

The feed shows posts published by performers, and viewers can sort it by newest, most popular or only people they follow. Posts visible to everyone are the ones that can reach anyone: they’re how your content meets people who don’t know you.

The feed rewards regularity — recent posts sit at the top — and quality: a post that gets likes and comments becomes popular and stays visible longer. Alternating free and paid posts lets you get known without giving up income, as we explain in Why Public Visibility Matters More Than Paid Subscribers.

The Fan Club and the Awards

Two more spaces. Discover has a filter for profiles with an active Fan Club: opening one puts you there too, in front of people looking specifically for subscriptions. And when it’s active, the public Awards ranking orders performers by tokens sold, overall, in live shows and in content, including month by month: the monthly ranking restarts every month, so even a newcomer can climb. If you’d rather not appear, you can opt out in your settings.

The mistakes that slow discovery down

  • Arriving at approval with an empty profile and wasting your time as a new face.
  • Disappearing for weeks: the feed and Trending reward those who show up.
  • Generic tags, or tags chosen just because they’re popular, which bring the wrong audience and few conversions.
  • No content visible to everyone: nothing to travel in the feed.
  • Shows never announced: you give up days of free visibility.
  • A private profile by mistake: check your visibility settings.

Frequently asked questions

How long do I appear among the new faces?
For the first weeks after your application is approved, with the New badge on your cards. The exact number of days is in the help center.
How do I get into Trending?
Through growth in interactions and new followers in recent weeks. It’s not about how big you are, but how much you’re moving.
Do tags really help?
Yes. They build the live page categories and feed search. A few precise tags, consistent across profile, posts and shows, work best.
If I block a country, will I show up less?
You won’t appear to people with an account in that country, but for everyone else discovery works normally. It’s the recommended way to protect your privacy without giving up visibility.
